A member can be replaced by either direct recruitment (suitable replacement) or by any member once all open and uncontracted spaces have been filled. Although strongly encouraged, replacement members do not have to sign for the same house or room, except for King House.

Suitable Replacement: ​A suitable replacement is defined as either:

1. A brand new member with no prior contact with the ICC and who has not submitted a membership application.

2. Any person who does not have a contract for the term in question, only if the house is full. 

1. I understand that by submitting this form, I acknowledge I am attempting to be released from my contract.

2. I have contacted my house president and requested to be released from house charges. If my house votes to approve my release from house charges, house officers must sign and file the Release from House charges Form with the ICC office. I understand that I will still be responsible for all ICC charges until I have been officially released by the ICC.
    
3. If I have indicated I will attempt to find my own replacement, I am expected to make a good faith effort to find a suitable replacement. If I successfully recruit a member who signs a contract for my space, I will be released from all contractual obligations to my house and the ICC for the period of the replacement contract. The prospective replacement must submit an application and must be a suitable replacement as defined by Standing Rule 7.3.1. If I am successful in recruiting a replacement for the ICC for my contract, the filling of my space will supersede other existing vacancies.
    
4. If I have indicated I want the ICC to use the waitlist to replace my contract. The ICC will continue to use the waitlist until the waitlist expires. Afterward, the ICC will fill spaces in my house in the following order: 1. Any previously uncontracted spaces; 2. The unfilled portion of any Fall-only contracts; 3. In order according to the date received on the Replacement Request Form.
    
5. I have the right to petition the Contract Release Committee for a release from my contract. If the CRC approves my request for a release from ICC charges, I am no longer obligated to pay any ICC charges for the dates that my release is effective. However, I am still obligated to pay off any outstanding balance on my account, as well as a pro-rated share of any assessment my house may incur when the house accounts are closed. I may also be entitled to a pro-rated share of any house rebates.
    
6. If the CRC has voted not to release me from my contract then I remain obligated to continue payment of ICC charges. Any decision of the CRC may be appealed but I must inform the committee in writing within 14 days of receiving notification. I will ask the ICC’s Director of Housing (info@icc.coop) for help and details.
    
7. My submission of this form indicates that I acknowledge the following

A. My current contract remains in effect until I have been officially released by the ICC. I remain responsible for all house and ICC charges.

B. I understand that I will be notified by email if I am replaced. Verbal notification of my replacement is neither sufficient nor final.

C. If there is a hold on my space by someone wishing to replace me, I may not rescind this replacement request until the hold date has expired.

D. By submitting this Replacement Request Form I am relinquishing my seniority rights (or rights to a specific room) for the contract period in question starting from the date signed above, unless my house constitution reads otherwise.

E. If I am released from my contract, I must relinquish my space.

F. Submitting this form entitles the ICC to advertise my space and replace me if possible, provided I have not indicated I will directly recruit my own replacement.
